SEWING RETREAT

The CCB Crew at Aylesford Priory Sept. 2011

Aylesford Priory

Sewing Retreats away from home

Sponsored by CCB Sewing Machines

We have all just returned from our very first sewing retreat at Aylesford Priory. We had a really good fun and relaxed weekend of sewing, eating, drinking, laughing and enjoying the company of ladies with the same interests and enthusiasm to sew. So much so we have provisionally booked two more similar weekends next year 2012.

Janice, Angela and Jenny

The ladies started arriving at around 2pm on the Friday and were able to check into their rooms and unpack, and  then free to wonder around the  beautiful grounds of the Priory.  At 6pm we got the keys to our conference room and started setting up our sewing and overlocker machines, we had all different makes it was great.

Eating hall

Eatin Hall

At 7pm we stopped and went over to the magnificant eating hall for supper.  The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly and catered for anyone with food allergies and vegetarians.  After supper we returned to our sewing room and started our own projects.  Some stayed sewing until 10pm while other made their way to bed.

Saturday morning started with a continental breakfast and then straight to sewing, with Janice teaching and instructing and myself on maintenance of machines or basic instruction.  Even my own daughter started making a skirt well done Katie. We all got on so well and helped each other.  Attached to our room was our own kitchen for drinks and snacks.  Lunch was served in the hall at 1pm and consisted of three courses so needless to say some of us felt a bit sleeply in the afternoon but determined to sew got back to work.  Afternoon tea and cakes at 4pm and Supper at 7pm with wine (non alcholic ! !) We all enjoyed getting back to sewing until 10 ish. The chatter and banter was lovely.

Sunday started with a few ladies going to morning mass and then breakfast and by now we were in a bit of a panic as we suddenly realised it was our last day and we wanted to finsh as much as we could and pick Janice's brain even more. A fabulous three course lunch and tea and cakes in the afternoon really finished off the weekend well.  As we sadly said our goodbyes and packed up and made our way home everyone agreed they wanted more and have asked for another weekend next year. I myself cannot wait and started planning so watch this space ! !
